Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour on Thursday opened
the Jerash Visitors Center's expansion and development project that was carried
out by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities as well as the Hashemite Park in
the Amman Gate area that was implemented under a Royal makruma.
Enosur toured the Jerash Visitors Center, unveiled a commemorative plaque of the JD500,000 project that included halls where information are presented in the Arabic, English and French languages about the ancient city in addition to a detailed map on the city and the displayed artifacts.
Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Nayef Al Fayez said the ministry attached special interest to the ancient city over the past 5 years through the implementation of projects that cost JD13 million.
US Ambassador to Jordan Alice Wells spoke about the importance of the center that highlights the historical treasures of Jordan, noting that the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) was keen to support the center as model for partnership between Jordan and the United States.
She added that partnership between Jordan and the United States resulted in the financing of projects worth $90 million.
