Amman, Dec. 9 - Royal Jordanian celebrated yesterday in Ankara the inauguration of the regular flights between the Jordanian and Turkish capitals. Upon arrival at Ankara's Esenboga International Airport, a festivity was held there with the presence of the Jordanian Ambassador to Turkey Amjad Adayleh.

Also attending were the Jordanian embassy's staff, the GM of the airport, officials of the local authorities in the city. A delegation from RJ was also on board that flight from Amman, in addition to RJ's Ankara and Istanbul employees.

Adayleh stressed the significance of operating this route between Amman and Ankara after ten years of suspension due to commercial reasons. He said that the flights will boost relations between the two countries and will serve the Jordanian and Arab communities living in Ankara and Anatolia in general.

This route will stimulate the bilateral commercial relations and tourism, added to catering for the demand of businessmen and students from both countries. Adayleh pointed to the notable tourist attractions of Ankara and its vicinity.

This flight will also transport Turkish Hajj and Umrah pilgrims, who visit Mecca and Madinah in Saudi Arabia, transiting via Queen Alia Airport, Amman.

Head of Sales and Marketing at RJ Zaker Majali expressed hope that this station will back the RJ route network in the region, thus increasing traffic between Jordan and Turkey. The company is now operating 12 weekly flights between the two countries; nine to Istanbul and three to Ankara. The frequency of flights remarkably increases during the summer season and holidays. On their part, the Turkish travel agents attending the inauguration ceremony expressed their satisfaction with the regular flights between Ankara and Amman.
