Washington, DC (October 15, 2021) The Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) is pleased to announce a new direct flight, making it even easier for American travelers to fly to Jordan. United Airlines will offer direct flights from Washington DC to Amman starting May 5, 2022, and fly three times a week. This is the first direct flight to connect the two capital cities.
Amman, Oct. 17, 2021 - In a move aimed at projecting Jordan to the world as an attractive tourist destination, Royal Jordanian, the Kingdom’s national carrier, has placed Petra-inspired livery on one of its wide-bodied 787 aircraft, an event that brought together HRH Dana Firas the President of Petra National Trust and UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Cultural Heritage, RJ Chairman of the Board Said Darwazeh, RJ Vice Chairman/CEO Samer Majali, Jordan Tourism Board members, all concerned authorities operating at QAIA, a number of social media influencers and RJ officials.
The Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, H.E Nayef Hmeidi Al-Fayez, announced during a press conference held on Sunday October 3rd 2021, the conclusion of a new agreement between the Kingdom and the international low-cost airline Wizz Air, during which the airline plans to operate eight new routes into and from the Kingdom.
Jordan has been recognised for its amazing attractions and experiences in the latest Lonely Planet Ultimate Travel List, released today, with four of the country’s sights making the list in total. The spectacular sandstone ancient city of Petra has been named as the number one bucket list experience in the world, with Jordan’s otherworldly rose-sand Wadi Rum desert, the Dead Sea and its natural healing powers, and the beautiful Dana Biosphere Reserve also making the list.
Amy Sproston, a seasoned American ultramarathoner and resident of Amman, Jordan, succeeded in setting a new supported Fastest Known Time of 8 Days, 9 hours and 28 minutes by running the 650+ KM long Jordan Trail, breaking the 9 days, 10 hours and 17 minutes record held by British Ultra Runners Dan Lawson and Robbie Britton, while also setting the women’s supported fastest known time. Upon reaching the finish line, Amy said “the furthest of my ambitions as an ultramarathoner, is to market the picturesque aesthetic, terrain and landscape of Jordan through running.”
The Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan has announced that international flights into Jordanian airports will resume on the 8th of September 2020. Countries and regions have been categorized depending on strict health measures into green, yellow and red areas with each category having its own specific requirements for travel and entry into Jordan.
